Dear Friend,
As a steadfast supporter of the Drug Policy Alliance, you know what we are up against.
That’s why I want to remind you of this special Giving Tuesday opportunity to TRIPLE your impact toward drug policies that end criminalization, build health-based alternatives to problematic drug use, and reinvest drug war funding into our communities.
A generous donor will triple match your gift, up to $150,000, but this offer ends at midnight tonight, so please, if you can, donate now.
Drug war policies—and powerful elected officials, media pundits, and special interest groups who are more interested in punishment and control than our health and well-being—continue to harm our communities.
Today, drug possession continues to be one of the most arrested offenses in the United States. In fact, every 31 seconds, someone in this country is arrested on drug possession. Every 31 seconds! We deserve better. Punishment is not the answer.
Thankfully, our movement is growing, and we are starting to see change. Powered by friends like you, we were able to:
- Spearhead the Measure 110 campaign, making Oregon the first state to decriminalize drug possession and shift to a health-based approach to drugs.
- Advocate for New York City to open the nation’s first legally sanctioned overdose prevention centers, which are a proven public health intervention to save lives and expand access to health and treatment services.
- Pass the MORE Act in the House. It’s the first bill of its kind that completely deschedules marijuana to end criminalization at the federal level and addresses the lifelong consequences of marijuana criminalization.
- Take our fight to the Senate to pass the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act, which builds on the MORE Act and is the next step to end federal marijuana prohibition.
As you can see, we’ve come a long way, but there is still much more to do. Please, if you can, donate today to take advantage of the triple match offer.
I know how passionate you are about decriminalizing drugs, investing in health-based alternatives, and changing our society’s misperceptions of drug use, [First Name]. With your help, we can rethink how we view drugs and focus on helping the communities most harmed by the oppressive policies created by the war on drugs.
You don’t have to wait to help shape the conversation about drug policy in our country. Donate before midnight while your gift will TRIPLE in impact.
Thank you for supporting our vision for every person—regardless of drug use—to be able to live freely with dignity and respect.
Thank you,
