Greetings Rural Coalition Members, Allies, and Friends, In the past year, our grassroots community based members have demonstrated the power of cooperation to get things done. With our member group Alianza Nacional de Campesinas, we reached over 200 of the nation’s most vulnerable rural communities with life saving vaccines. Fifteen Rural Co member groups held over 1,000 events, reaching over 400,000 people directly and almost 1.4 million by all means. With our sister organizations, we fought for (and won) debt payment and discrimination financial assistance. We did this in the face of litigation that sought to halt the critical kind of aid the farmers we serve really need after decades of exclusions. In 2023, Congress will craft a landmark Farm Bill in the face of a growing climate collapse. Our members are crafting policies directed towards securely connecting the next diverse generation of farmers and ranchers to care for the land nurtured by those who came before them. In 2023, we also celebrate our 45th year! For the first time since 2011, we are planning a full Rural Coalition Assembly. We’ll engage our growing membership in mapping out a future for our collective efforts.
