John — I'm writing to give you an update on Brady's critical Giving Tuesday goal. There's still a lot of ground to make up, and hitting this $100,000 goal today, while all gifts are doubled, is so important to creating a future free from gun violence.

I'm here to share my story and tell you why supporting Brady is so important to me personally, but if you're already planning to make a life-saving gift today, you can donate here:

Four years ago, gun violence robbed me of my daughter, Jaime. She was murdered by a gunman armed with a military-style assault weapon during the 2018 Parkland massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Not a day goes by that I don't reflect with anguish on the senselessness of this tragedy.

Ever since my Jaime was murdered, I've dedicated my life to ensuring that other families don't have to experience the devastation of losing a child. Because parents shouldn’t worry when they send their kids to school, and our kids shouldn’t fear being gunned down there. So I fight every single day for the pragmatic, common-sense gun safety reforms that will prevent future mass shootings like the ones at Parkland, Uvalde, and Sandy Hook.

My fight includes taking on Mitch McConnell and the abhorrent gun lobby, led by the NRA. Every day in the U.S., an average of 22 children are shot. And Mitch McConnell? He embraced his nickname as the legislative “Grim Reaper” — and he refuses to even consider legislation like an assault weapons ban, which could have saved Jaime’s life.

That’s why Brady's work to pass life-saving, common-sense policies, hold gun manufacturers accountable in court, and take on Mitch McConnell and the NRA is so important. Brady is a gun violence prevention group run by gun violence survivors — advocates who know firsthand the weight millions of Americans carry because of this senseless violence and exactly how to stop it.

I'm personally reaching out today for a critical reason, John. Giving Tuesday is the most important fundraising day of the year for Brady, and at this make-or-break moment, they're falling $32,816 short of their goal. Brady is a grassroots organization that counts on donations from people like you, and what they bring in the door today determines what kind of work they can do tomorrow:

So, please, John, while all gifts are DOUBLED – will you rush $5 or more now to defeat the NRA and help pass laws that will save lives from gun violence? Every donation to Brady helps make a future possible where our children do not have to worry about being murdered at school.

The pain from Jaime's murder will never fully subside, but I'm encouraged by the good work we're getting done, and I am hopeful for our future. The gun lobby isn't the invincible force that it once was. We're making progress.

Committed gun safety champions like you power this work forward. Thank you for joining me in this fight.

Thank you.
