Giving Tuesday
Dear John:

Before Giving Tuesday draws to a close, I wanted to reach out to you personally and ask that you please take a minute to show your support for the award-winning independent journalism of the Center for Media and Democracy (CMD).

As the President of CMD’s board and its past executive director, I know how hard the CMD team works to dig behind the scenes so that you have the information you need to fight back against the special interests distorting our democracy.

For nearly three decades—this coming year is CMD’s 30th Anniversary!—CMD has exposed the Koch brothers’ massive political machine, climate denial front groups, corporate pay-to-play operations like the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA), and much, much more.

In 2022, CMD:

  • Blew the whistle on ALEC’s plans to have states act like Big Brother and blacklist any company that pursues climate or social justice goals they don’t like.
  • Exposed the politicians, groups, and deep-pocket funders who backed the Jan. 6 insurrection and are still scheming to subvert future elections.
  • Revealed the Right’s secret game plan to force a constitutional convention that would give them supermajority control over rewriting the U.S. Constitution.
  • Sued Ohio AG Dave Yost—again—for withholding public information about his dealings with the Republican Attorneys General Association—a corporate-funded group that deployed robocalls urging people to march on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
  • Sent out hundreds of freedom of information requests to dig for information that powerful interests don’t want you to see.

That’s why I’m reaching out to you now—as CMD approaches its 30th Anniversary—to ask you to please support our in-depth investigations into hidden corporate influence, anti-democratic extremists, and dark money.

There’s so much to do in 2023 to fight disinformation and division, and CMD really needs your help!

So please join me on this Giving Tuesday and make a tax-deductible gift to CMD today!

Together we can make a difference and help build a democracy truly of the people, by the people, and for the people.

With deepest gratitude for all that you are doing to help make our world a better place,

Lisa Graves
Board President
