John,

This Giving Tuesday, you can make a difference in the lives of youth who don’t always get to experience the warmth and care that make this time of year so special.

Since 2021, Color Of Change’s local squad members in California and Texas have been working with Precious Dreams Foundation — an organization that provides sleep support, teaches healthy coping mechanisms and helps youth in foster care and homeless shelters uncover paths to fostering their dreams. Together, our members have hosted a series of Comfort Drops of gifts and supplies, serving over 1,200 youth and young adults in cities like Houston, Oakland, and Los Angeles.

This season, we’re coming together again to lift the youth with “I Am Joy” holiday pop-up events with food, gifts, and comfort items. Based on your record as a top supporter, we’re asking you to make a Giving Tuesday donation to help spread some much-needed Black joy this holiday season:

23% of youth in American foster care are Black, while making up only 14% of the general population — in Los Angeles County alone, some 59% of Black children will have 1 or more open CPS cases in their life.1 And more than 25% of youth who age out of foster care will become homeless within two to four years of leaving the system.2

Together, we can take action to shift the narrative and the way people interact and engage with youth in the foster care system — we can inspire healing for Black youth and decrease the trauma faced due to a history of abandonment, abuse, and neglect at the state level. Our “I Am Joy” program helps create space for these youth to engage in evenings of inspiration and hope beyond their circumstances.

John, we’re deeply grateful for your dedication and commitment as a member of our grassroots community for change. So this Giving Tuesday, we hope you’ll consider making a contribution of $25 to help make our “I Am Joy” events a success and support our year-round work to empower youth:

Thank you for helping us make this season a time of Black joy. We’re grateful for your continued support — on this Giving Tuesday, and every day.

Until Justice Is Real,

The Color Of Change Team
