“In a rare moment for the senator, who has generally avoided reporters in
recent months, Cory Gardner took questions from the press before a Senate
vote Monday evening.
“As he waited for an elevator to take him up to the floor of the Senate
chamber, with an ever-growing group of reporters standing by, Gardner
would not say whether he wants to hear from top Trump Administration
officials during a Senate impeachment trial.
“‘Until she has the articles sent over, there is no trial,’ Gardner said
before the elevator doors closed.” — Colorado Public Radio, Jan. 6, 2020
With apologies to Clement Clarke Moore:
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
Ignored the reporters; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And pressing a button, up the lift he rose;
Sprang to the Senate, to his staff gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the vote for acquittal.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he dashed out of sight—
“No need for a trial, the defense is airtight!”Contribute to Andrew’s campaign: [link removed]
