Dear Friend, In 2022, our staff and volunteers across our eight Young Center offices met with children in immigration proceedings every week and bore witness to their stories. We advocated for children's safety and well-being and fought tooth and nail to reunite and support separated families. We also launched a new program to safeguard the rights of immigrant children caught in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems.
Through our work this fiscal year, we served 1,603 children, including very young children for whom determining their best interests can be difficult. We also worked with teenagers at risk of transfer to immigration jail on their 18th birthday. Moreover, we continued advocating for wholesale reform of the immigration system, taking our fight for children's rights to Capitol Hill, federal courts, the United Nations, and the press and social media. I’m proud to report that government agencies
followed our best interests recommendations in individual cases in record numbers, while legislators and agency officials accepted and even tested our ideas for fundamental reform.
Your support fuels our work. Give today and help us reach our fundraising goal of $100,000.00 by midnight. As a bonus, all donations will be matched dollar for dollar by an anonymous Young Center supporter, up to $15,000!
