Hi John,
On this global day of giving, I ask that you reflect on the role NIAC has played in improving the lives of Iranian-Americans and consider sustaining the more-important-than-ever work ahead. [[link removed]]
For 20 years, NIAC has had one guiding principle, one north star dictating the work and direction of our organization: to improve the lives of Iranian-Americans and build our community’s political agency to be able to support and protect our children and loved ones.
We have challenged and cultivated members of Congress, worked with - and fought - the executive branch, developed civic leaders, and assembled major coalitions of national organizations to give our community a voice in the halls of power to improve the lives of Iranian Americans.
We have done so in very difficult times, when the odds were stacked against us, and when some said that political expediency dictated that we must bend with the wind.
From fighting to prevent our bank accounts from being closed here at home, to challenging detentions of Iranian Americans at the border because of their heritage or last names, to combatting discrimination in popular culture - NIAC has demonstrated for twenty years that we will fight for EVERY Iranian-American to ensure all of us enjoy the same rights to which all Americans are entitled.
And we have been the most effective advocates for our community in realizing more just American foreign policies abroad - including our successful efforts to help establish a UN human rights monitor on Iran, impose targeted sanctions on human rights abusers, and lift sanctions on medicine and Internet access for Iranians. NIAC has always worked for policymakers to listen to the Iranian people and actually treat Iranians as people, not pawns on a geopolitical chessboard.
Now, in the current climate, it is more important than ever to have a steady, experienced, and values-driven hand on the wheel in Washington with a proven track record to navigate the threats to our democracy here in the U.S. and to support our loved ones demanding freedom in Iran.
Our voice is more important than ever, and key stakeholders including the White House and Congress must hear from us. Your continued investment and support is vital for NIAC to continue raising the collective voice of our community.
Our goal today is to raise $10,000 as we enter the critical December month - I hope you will stand with us as we dedicate our hard work, energy, and soul to serving the Iranian-American people who live in the United States and standing with our loved ones abroad to fulfill a dream that otherwise would not have been afforded to them. Please consider making a tax-deductible gift today. [[link removed]]
