John, this Giving Tuesday, I wanted to reach out and talk about The Light House Project.
Seven years ago, three of my dear friends, Deah, Yusor, and Razan, were murdered in a hate crime for being Muslim, a faith that I share.
I was 21 years old, and this tragedy left me personally shattered. Just seven weeks before, I had been a bridesmaid in Yusor and Deah’s wedding, and then they were gone far too soon.
My friends had dedicated their lives to serving their communities at home and beyond. I was broken, but their parents, with incredible strength and love, asked us not to let their legacy die—to continue to remember the three of them and cherish them in our work.
John, I’m reaching out on this Giving Tuesday in the hope that you will join me in continuing their legacy.
The Light House Project is a non-profit, youth community center founded to continue the work of Deah, Yusor, and Razan. Will you join me in making a charitable contribution today for Giving Tuesday?
Like myself, many young Muslims in America were left feeling lost, scared, and heartbroken.
Instead of responding with hate and darkness, Deah, Yusor and Razan's families responded to this tragic event by creating the Light House Project: a source of light for young Muslims and the community at large.
John, I hope you will join me today in continuing the legacy of my friends and bringing light to Muslim youth. Will you make a contribution to the Light House Project today?
With all my gratitude,
Nida Allam
