Immigrants in the U.S. make up approximately 1 in 6 workers and create about 1 in 4 new businesses, according to the Joint Economic Committee. Immigrants - both documented and undocumented disproportionately work in jobs that have been labeled essential. As of 2020, there were 19.8 million immigrant essential workers in the U.S.
Not only are they workers, but immigrants are also consumers. According to the New American Economy, immigrants hold $1.3 trillion in spending power.
