The Week Ahead

The U.S. House of Representatives is back in session this week and will convene on Tuesday for official business. On Tuesday, 19 pieces of legislation will be up for consideration, including H.Res. 922, a resolution Condemnding Hunger as a Weapon of War, which I co-lead. Global conflict often results in food insecurity, market disruption, and the destruction of livestock and crops. In no uncertain terms, this resolution condemns the use of hunger and starvation as weapons of war and urges Congress to hold accountable those who carry out such inhumane tactics.

Other legislation up for consideration on the House floor:

  • H.R. 8876, the Jackie Walorski Maternal and Child Home Visiting Reauthorization Act of 2022
  • H.R. 7158, the Long-Term Care Veterans Choice Act

Meetings in the Office

  • Kansas Hospital Association
  • David Beasley - World Food Program
  • JAG-K

On the House Floor

  • A Special Order Honoring National Bible Week

In the News

Earlier this month, the Biden Administration moved to place the Northern Distinct Population Segment of the lesser prairie-chicken on the Endangered Species List. This ruling is more than another example of federal overreach - it is a proxy war on American agriculture and energy sectors that are vital to our economy.

Happening Across the Country

Kansas families continue to feel the pain of high inflation on everything from groceries to utilities because of the Biden Administration’s mismanagement of the economy. Now as the holidays are upon us, this year's shopping will look very different with prices up 7.7% compared to last year. Americans across the country are already preparing to cut back on holiday shopping due to high costs.

When Republicans take control of the U.S. House of Representatives in January, we will stand by our Commitment to America to fight inflation by curbing wasteful government spending, stabilizing the economy through pro-growth tax and deregulatory policies, and expanding U.S. manufacturing here at home.
