We’re launching a fundraiser for three organizations that provide food and support services to asylum seekers arriving in NYC.
For Giving Tuesday, we’re launching a fundraiser for three organizations that provide food and support services to asylum seekers arriving in NYC with nothing but the clothes on their backs – many sent as part of an anti-immigrant stunt by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
100% of your donation will go to these three community organizations – Make the Road NY, New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE), and City Island Rising – to support families looking to make a better life for themselves this year.
If you’re able to lend a hand to those in need this giving season, please chip in $6 or whatever you can to help these three incredible organizations ramp up their relief efforts.
Contribute $6
100% of your contribution will be split between these three organizations:
- New Immigrant Community Empowerment creates pathways to success and empowerment for essential immigrant workers, and provides critical services and resources to prevent worker exploitation and ensure workers' safety and rights are respected. As asylum seekers arrive looking for employment, NICE provides workforce development training, know-your-rights education, and safety training for work permits that might cost an asylum seeker hundreds of dollars to obtain privately.
- Make the Road NY offers an array of education, health, and legal services for immigrant and working class communities in NYC. Make the Road has been meeting asylum seekers new to NY as they disembark at the bus station to offer supportive services like housing assistance referrals and case management, and to distribute prepaid cell phones, Metrocards to access public transit, and cash assistance.
- City Island Rising’s goal is to strengthen the social and cultural fabric of New York’s diversity by leveraging community-driven solutions to city-wide problems. As more asylum seekers arrive in NYC, City Island Rising is operating a food pantry and clothing drives to support migrant families that came here with little to nothing while they await immigration hearings.
We’ve seen this movement step up to achieve incredible things before. Just last year, together we raised $7.36 million for mutual aid groups and other relief programs, and we need your help to continue to provide urgent relief to those in need – especially during the holidays.
If you are able to donate, please pitch in $6 — or whatever you can afford — and your donation will be automatically split between these three organizations working to build power for local working class and immigrant communities.
Wishing you and your loved ones a happy holiday season.
