For the past five years, this grassroots team has powered the NDRC’s work to secure fair maps and defeat gerrymandering across the country. I’m proud to report that our grassroots efforts made an incredible difference in the midterm elections.

For the first time in years, more Americans will live under a state government entirely controlled by Democrats than by Republicans. That’s in large part because fair maps made it possible for Democrats to flip state legislative chambers in states like Michigan and Minnesota. And, leading up to the race for Congress, our work helped secure what The New York Times called “the fairest maps in 40 years.” As a result, we helped prevent an illegitimate red wave.

Together, we helped prove that, wherever Democrats can fairly compete, they can win. Now, it’s up to us to continue our fight for fairness. If you’re able, will you pitch in to support the NDRC’s work before the end-of-month deadline?

The truth is that our fight is far from over – in fact, it’s only just begun. In states like Wisconsin and Florida, maps are still gerrymandered. Meanwhile, Republicans have declared that they now view redistricting as an ongoing fight, rather than a once-a-decade battle. GOP map manipulators are preparing right now to ramp up their efforts, so we need to be prepared to hold them accountable.

Here at the NDRC, we’re committed to continuing our work to end gerrymandering once and for all. We’re continuing our multi-pronged strategy by working to help elect fair-minded judges, supporting plaintiffs in lawsuits, holding map-manipulating politicians accountable, and much more.
