Dear Colleagues, 

How did it come to this? Giving Tuesday. What was meant to be a call for global generosity – has now become more like the Hunger Games of fundraising, with NGOs everywhere competing over seemingly limited funds. It doesn’t have to be this way.

As part of an international movement of feminist philanthropists, we take an abundance mindset–that when one of us succeeds, we all do; that we’re stronger together; that there is enough to go around for all of us. All of the organizations in our network are doing vital work to combat the historic challenges we’re facing: economic insecurity during record inflation, a caregiving crisis, an increase in gender-based violence, and the erosion of reproductive rights, among so many other critical areas.  Each one of these organizations is needed and worthy. 

That’s why today we are asking our communities to increase their total Giving Tuesday gifts from, an average 2 percent, to 10 percent giving to organizations supporting equity and justice for women, girls, and nonbinary people.

We know that even this small increase in giving means that, instead of picking winners and losers, donors are helping fund an ecosystem of change that includes grassroots groups, embedded intermediaries like women’s funds, and global networks, like WFN, who are helping build collective power. 

This Giving Tuesday, think of what we can achieve together with a gift to WFN , or if you haven’t already, to any of the groups in our alliance.

You’re invited to a virtual event focused on engaging women in community leadership as an important entry point on the path to political leadership. This event is created in partnership with She Should Run and the Mississippi Women in the Lead program, a leadership program designed by the Women’s Foundation of Mississippi’s Women’s Policy Institute, the Mississippi Black Women’s Roundtable’s Black Women’s Leadership Institute, and One Voice of Mississippi’s Mississippi Black Leadership Institute.  The event will be on Dec 6, 1 PM EST / 6 PM UTC.  RSVP here. 

How Women Lead is inviting social impact Latina Leaders from across the globe to apply to its Women Leaders for the World fellowship - Latina Leaders Cohort, a yearlong program for Latina leaders to access leadership tools, time to reflect & reset, and a global network of alums, allowing leaders to become  changemakers. Women Leaders for the World (WLW) was built by changemakers for changemakers. Across New York City, there continues to be a need for police and ICE accountability. Several communities are collaborating to create new models to hold law enforcement responsible. To share examples of community accountability models in action, two of The New York Women’s Foundation’s grantee partners, Equality for Flatbush and Street Vendor Project, will present their projects on bystander engagement and training to create awareness of the needs of the community against harassment. The Women's Fund of Western Massachusetts (WFWM) is hiring for a Communications and Events Manager. This full time position is responsible for highlighting and promoting the organization’s work through external communications and events coordinated by the WFWM. If interested, please apply here.

The Women’s Fund SouthCoast is hiring for their new Executive Director. The Fund is looking for a dynamic individual to lead this largely volunteer organization, grow its grantmaking capacity, expand its visibility and impact, and collaborate with local organizations to address the specific needs of women in our area. Opportunities and Resources

Nonprofits serving communities in the U.S.’s South on reproductive justice are invited to apply for WAKE Tech2Empower USA South: Activism for Reproductive Justice. This program connects southern reproductive justice leaders with volunteer Advisors from leading tech companies. Advisors will partner with nonprofits to offer free technical assistance, training, and tools to support and amplify work on the frontlines of the reproductive justice movement.  Applications due December 16.

You are invited to hear directly from the 28 grassroots women leaders in WEA’s 2022 cohort of the U.S. Grassroots Accelerator. These leaders are at the helm of climate and environmental initiatives across the U.S. that are rising to protect our communities and the earth. Join Futures Without Violence and Legal Momentum for a discussion on state employment laws including anti-discrimination protections, reasonable accommodations in the workplace, leave and unemployment insurance for survivors.
