A homophobic mass shooting at a queer nightclub and safe space in Colorado Springs, Colorado, left five people dead and 19 injured.1
The suspect used an AR-15-style semiautomatic rifle.2
A mass shooting in Chesapeake, Virginia, left seven dead after a manager opened fire in an employee break room during a meeting before killing himself.3
The gunman purchased the gun used to carry out the killings the same day of the shooting.4
These are two of the 617 mass shootings that have occurred in America in 2022.5
These killings are entirely preventable. No other developed country in the world faces mass shootings and epidemic levels of gun violence as we do. And we must do everything in our power to pass nationwide gun control laws that stop the violence.
John, on January 3, 2023, Republicans take over the U.S. House. We know they will cower to the NRA and block all gun control legislation.
That means we have only a matter of weeks to pass critical gun control laws that prevent future mass shootings.
Only a matter of weeks.
But we can get it done—if we work together to amend the filibuster and get every Democratic senator to vote for gun control.
The good news is that President Biden is making it a priority to pass an assault weapons ban before the GOP takes over the House in January.6
