Dear John,
We hope that you and your family are staying healthy, safe, and warm during this holiday season. As the daylight fades earlier and earlier and the temperatures get colder and colder, it’s hard to think that there are families in our community who don’t have a safe place to sleep. Families with children, like Alicia’s.
Alicia is the mother of three children who came to CMCA seeking help to find a place to live.
Homeless and unemployed, she never knew from one day to the next where she and her kids would sleep at night or what they would eat.
But thanks to your generosity families like Alicia’s don’t have to sleep in a cold car. Your gift makes providing Alicia and her children a safe place to live
and food on the table possible.
When Alicia and her children came to CMCA, they needed a safe, affordable place to call home. Fortunately, we were able to provide her with a housing voucher. As Alicia began looking for a new place for her family to live, also learned about CMCA’s Head Start and enrolled her two preschool children. Through Head Start, Alicia began working with a family success coach who helped her identify goals and take the necessary steps toward achieving them.
One of Alicia’s goals was to attend cosmetology school and with the help of CMCA’s SkillUP program she did just that.
Today, Alicia and her children no longer must worry about where they’ll sleep at night or if they’ll have money for food and other needs. Alicia recently accepted a new job with a salon, and she and her children go to bed at night in the safe place they call home.
Most people come to CMCA seeking help for an immediate need. That’s what Alicia did. As a single parent, she needed childcare so that she could search for and maintain employment. Because of this, she enrolled in CMCA’s Head Start program.
We were thrilled to be able to help Alicia and we couldn’t have done it without the generous support of people like you. There are more families like Alicia’s in our community and our funds are running low to support immediate, critical needs. This is where you can help!
Your gift of any amount makes a difference for neighbors like Alicia by providing emergency funds that can help get them back on their feet.
