The ward walks are a great opportunity for residents to engage with services and discuss with the local Cllrs issues that matter to them.
Cllrs Cate Woodward, Steve Battlemuch and local SCPO, Jacob Gentle-Parker went on a Ward walk on 21st October at Martins Reach estate.
We were delighted to attend the official opening of the newly upgraded Seaford Avenue Park, by local resident Eva Brown today. Eva has lived in Wollaton for 50 years and has fostered over 100 children, bringing most of them to the park over the years.Â
It was an absolute pleasure seeing the children excited with their new playground. This is such beautiful space in our ward and we look forward to seeing many more families come and enjoy it, in the years to come! đâ¤ď¸
Looking for friendship?
Isolation and loneliness can happen to anyone, at any time and at any age, and since the pandemic and lockdown many of us have felt this. But the good news is there are plenty of coffee mornings around, and groups to join locally!
Groups to join
- St Leonardâs Community Centre - Tuesday morning 10.00-11.30
- British Legion for Hug a Mug coffee â Tuesday mornings from 11.00 onwards
- Kingswood (10.00-11.00) and Grangewood (11.00-12.00) churches hold coffee mornings on Wednesday mornings
- Wollaton Park Community Centreâs coffee (and cake) cafe is open on Thursday mornings 9.00-12.00.
Not everyone has the confidence or mobility to get out on their own but a recent project that has taken off is the Smile Project, which aims to provide befrienders for anyone who would appreciate a bit of support. This could be for a coffee and a chat once a week, or perhaps going to a group or event together to help break the ice, or even just a telephone chat now and then. Itâs really up to the individual befriending relationship to decide what works best. And the service is for any age group too. Contact the Smile Project on 07985 554999 or [email protected] â theyâre always looking for volunteers too.
Many GP practices have social prescribers now, who can recommend all sorts of activities to help people who might be feeling cut off, so that might be worth thinking about. And if youâre a current or former carer, thereâs a new Carers Coffee Hub at Wollaton Park Community Centre, run twice a month by a social prescriber, from 9.30-12.00. Contact the centre for more information.
Do you need help with food and drink? Help is available locally
If you or anyone you know is struggling in the current cost of living crisis, there is a foodbank at Grangewood Church on a Friday morning from 10.00-12.00. Please visit and ask for help if you need it.Â
Join the festive fun at Wollaton Hall! Itâs truly a magical experience for children and adults alike. We highly recommend a visit.Â
The Christmas at Wollaton lights trail is on until January 1, 2023. All info & ticket details can be found on the website.

Have your say on how waste and recycling is collected in Nottingham âťď¸
The UK Government has set a national target to increase the amount of waste recycled in England to 65%, while keeping waste that ends up in landfill below 10%. The Government is also introducing new collection rules for food waste and recycling to deliver more consistency across England.
To achieve these goals, the City Council is proposing new options for waste and recycling collections in Nottingham. These include:
- Working on initiatives to help people reuse and repair items rather than throwing them away
- Helping people to manage waste well and recycle the right things
- Starting food waste collections
- Making changes to how we collect recycling
- Offering smaller general waste bins
- Increasing our fleet of âalternative-fuelâ bin lorries
To help us shape the final strategy, we want you to tell us your thoughts on waste and recycling in Nottingham. Sharing your opinions will allow us to create a new strategy that works for the city.
