Dear John: Thank you for helping us fiercely advocate for human rights in 2022. Today, we need your help more than ever as we continue to work with grassroots partners to challenge and call attention to the systemic abuses and discrimination faced by migrants, refugees, and communities of color in the United States. This year, NNIRR launched the Spotlight Report and the first iteration of the mapping for human rights initiative that sheds light on systemic injustices and long-standing human rights violations arising from immigration deterrence and militarization. The findings are troublesome, as per Border Patrol estimates, 8000 people have died attempting to reach the United States, and thousands more have gone missing. NNIRR remains steadfast in its fight against these injustices and will continue to demand the creation of safe and regular migration pathways and regularization programs that facilitate social and family cohesion, provide options for permanent residence and citizenship, and the meaningful participation of migrants in our civic life. In the tradition of BRIDGE, our landmark popular education initiative rooted in popular education and intersectionality, we are bringing together a broad cross-section of thought leaders and organizers to participate in the Grassroots Institutes for Human Rights! Our focus is to build transformative leadership skills amongst new generations of community leaders and build a people-centered movement for human rights!
