John,

Today is Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving and philanthropy — and it's the perfect day to help non-profit organizations across our communities here in Maine that need our generosity.

If you weren't sure which groups you'd like to donate to today, we wanted to share with you three incredible non-profits doing critical work helping Mainers in need this holiday season and all year-round.

Here's a little bit more New Hope Midcoast, Preble Street, and York County Shelter Programs. If you can, please make a donation to one, two, or all three.

New Hope Midcoast

New Hope Midcoast, formerly New Hope for Women, is the only domestic abuse resource center serving Midcoast Maine. The organization offers support to people in Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox and Waldo counties affected by domestic and dating violence and provides educational resources to assist our communities in creating a safer and healthier future.

Preble Street

Located in Portland, Preble Street provides accessible barrier-free services to empower people experiencing problems with homelessness, housing, hunger, and poverty and to advocate for solutions to these problems. From a nutritious meal to crisis intervention, from clean clothes to healthcare, from shelter to a permanent home, Preble Street programs not only meet urgent needs but also create solutions to homelessness and hunger.

York County Shelter Programs

York County Shelter Programs is more than a shelter; they help people address issues that may have led to homelessness – crippling challenges such as mental health issues and substance abuse. The agency runs an emergency shelter for adults in Alfred and a family shelter in Sanford. YCSP also operates the largest food pantry in York County and distributes a free meal every Tuesday and Thursday from its van in Sanford.

Thank you for everything you do this Giving Tuesday — and every day.

All my best,
Chellie
