New Match Announcement: $30,000 |
John — today is Giving Tuesday, a day when millions of people advocate for and make donations to the organizations and causes they care about most.
We are grateful that you joined our movement and have helped NDWA make incredible progress over the last 15 years to shift the way care work is understood, valued, and compensated. But our work to ensure that domestic workers have the respect, recognition and protections they deserve and that these much-needed jobs are good jobs — with dignity, economic security, and opportunity for advancement — is far from over.
AND we are thrilled to announce that NDWA's donor organizing committee, the Care Giving Circle, has come together to match any amount you give before midnight up to $30,000!
Generations of persistent and systemic racial and gender discrimination have left domestic workers undervalued and unprotected, with these workers being systematically written out of most workplace protections. The result is that the majority of nannies, housecleaners and home care workers STILL have no benefits, little protection from sexual harassment and abuse, and huge barriers to holding bad employers accountable.
Our work has never been easy and we need all the resources possible to continue this fight. We must and WILL continue to advance a bold care economy agenda at the federal and state level, and to push for bills of rights in more states and cities to ensure domestic workers receive the protections they deserve.
We all have a part to play in creating lasting change and ensuring that these essential workers can earn a decent wage, afford to feed their families, and receive the benefits and protections they deserve.
The Care Giving Circle, composed of committed NDWA donors, stands with us in this fight, and that is why they are coming together to do their part to ensure we have the critical funds necessary to continue this urgent work.
Will you join them, on this special day of giving, by making a generous donation today?
Now more than ever, we need to show up for domestic workers and that’s what #GivingTuesday and our work at NDWA is all about.
In gratitude,
