I'll be frank: This has been a tough year for us financially. We’ve been dealing with a budget crisis. And while we’ve made strides with your support, we’re not out of the woods yet.
Still, our staff persevered. We produced ambitious investigations that exposed corruption and abuses that powerful interests did not want revealed. We did unique, groundbreaking reporting on the biggest issues we face today, including the attacks on democracy, the repeal of abortion rights and the obstacles to tackling climate change.
We told gripping stories about Catholic-run boarding schools that sought to strip Native communities of their identities, the government cover-up behind one of Mexico's great tragedies and the rapid proliferation of “stand your ground” laws across the United States.
