Pregnancy or childbirth complications are the second leading cause of death for girls aged 15-19 worldwide. The Center works to ensure the human rights of girls and adolescents are respected, protected and fulfilled, and we seek justice when their rights are violated. We are on the forefront of spearheading litigation to affirm girls’ autonomy and access to sexual and reproductive health and rights. Maternal health care
Around the world 810 women die every day from preventable causes related to pregnancy or childbirth. The Center works to improve access to respectful, quality, non-discriminatory maternal health care throughout the world by raising awareness about human rights violations in maternal health care settings, galvanizing political engagement, and holding governments accountable for preventable maternal deaths and morbidities.
