John,

My abuser — a trafficker and pimp — forced me to post ads online, pay the phone bills, and get his cars fixed.

When I didn’t want to, he threatened me and was violent.

Those actions landed me in prison. I’m still being punished today for being exploited.

These are Keyana’s words. She’s sharing her story to ask for your help:

Will you make your Giving Tuesday donation to support victims and survivors on their path to freedom?

Keyana was just 15 when she was manipulated into selling sex — by a trafficker she originally worked for as a babysitter.

Through her teen years, Keyana was passed from one trafficker to another. Until finally, law enforcement stepped in.

For Keyana, that only made things worse. She ended up taking a plea deal out of fear, and serving nearly five years in prison for crimes her trafficker forced her to commit.

Today, Keyana is a leader in our work to reform the criminal justice system.

Keyana wants you to know: You are urgently needed to create change

— to ensure that all tracking survivors get a chance to clear their names and records.

This need can feel overwhelming. More than 90% of survivors in one survey reported having an arrest or conviction as a result of being trafficked.

But you can help. Your MATCHED gift can:

Advocate for federal and state legislation that gives criminal record relief to survivors.

Help build coalitions with survivors and partners, advance lobbying efforts in DC, create educational materials, and gain media attention.

Make progress in key states during 2023 legislative sessions.

The criminal justice system too often treats victims as criminals — which makes healing and rebuilding so much harder for survivors.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Please make your gift now.
