Dear John,
Today is a critical day in the fight for religious freedom, and I’m counting on your support to make sure we can continue to win in the new year.
This Giving Tuesday is an essential opportunity to partner with First Liberty and to protect your First Freedom.
We need YOUR support More Than Ever Before: Join the fight to defeat Woke Corporate Canceling NOW
I’m not going to sugarcoat it: This year has been hard on everyone in our country. We’ve just walked through a tough election cycle, and many are worried about the future of America.
However, we know at First Liberty that a huge advantage to our fight is that we don’t have to depend on politicians. We are winning in court, and no politician can slow us down.
And leading the battle in the court system is the winning strategy for our First Freedom.
That is why we are deeply grateful for your faithful support throughout 2022, especially as we won two precedent-setting cases at the U.S. Supreme Court.
While we celebrate these victories, there is still work ahead.
“Woke” corporations and government officials have embraced cancel culture, a dangerous ideology that threatens to destroy the livelihood of millions of religious Americans. Employees are being fired simply for living out their faith in the workplace.
Radical woke ideology is taking over companies across the country. From the boardroom to the breakroom, there’s growing intolerance and hostility toward religion. People of faith are often put in impossible situations—forced to choose between their work and their beliefs.
Right now, we have brave clients like Lacey Smith, Valerie Kloosterman and Robyn Strader who are taking a stand to this woke madness—in hopes of defeating it for good.
Lacey Smith is a flight attendant who was fired for expressing her religious beliefs.
When Alaska Airlines declared on its company’s internal message board that as a corporation it is supporting the “Equality” Act, it invited employees to comment.
Motivated by her religious beliefs, Lacey politely asked about the company’s support of the legislation, expressing deep concern about the impact the bill could have on her freedoms—concerns shared by millions of Americans. The airline disparaged her religoius beliefs and promptly fired her for asking a question.
Our second client Valerie Kloosterman is a committed physician assistant who has served her patients faithfully at University of Michigan Health West for 17 years.
After Valerie was required to attend Michigan Health’s “diversity and inclusion” training, she asked for a religious accommodation. She simply could not affirm their statements about gender identity because they violated her deeply held Christian beliefs.
Despite her stellar record, a Michigan Health representative with no medical training called Valerie “evil” and a “liar,” denigrated her religious beliefs and even blamed her for gender dysphoria-related suicides. Less than a month later, she was fired.
Our third client, Robyn Strader, is a nurse practitioner with multiple, advanced degrees. CVS MinuteClinic fired her after accommodating her religious beliefs without issue for six and a half years.
The woke corporate leaders at CVS want to force all employees to prescribe contraception even when it violates their religious beliefs.
Stand with Lacey, Valerie and Robyn to defeat Cancel Culture TODAY
This corporate “canceling” of Lacey, Valerie and Robyn makes a mockery of laws that protect religious Americans from employment discrimination.
Now, more than ever, we must stand up against corporations like Alaska Airlines, Michigan Health and CVS that want to purge people of faith from their ranks.
Since most of our courageous clients don’t have the money to defend themselves, First Liberty defends them in court for free. But even the force multiplying effect of our national network of volunteer attorneys—the best attorneys from the top law firms in the county—is not enough.
We simply cannot match the huge war chests of these corporate enemies of faith without your support.
Today, Giving Tuesday, is a prime opportunity for you to join First Liberty on the frontlines. Your gift will help First Liberty’s legal team deliver a victory for these religious employees who have taken a brave stand for our First Freedom.
Together, we can reclaim religious liberty for all Americans, so that our children and grandchildren can enjoy these same freedoms for generations to come.
Gratefully, Kelly
