Dear
Friend --
This
year, people all over the world realised that nuclear weapons are an
urgent threat. Now it’s time for our campaign to show up on the
streets. Today we are launching a new Rapid Action Fund, so our partner
organisations in 110 countries can apply for funds to carry out direct
actions, public stunts and disrupt the status quo to promote the TPNW
and nuclear disarmament.
We
need to raise 50,000 CHF for this fund to power a series of
stunts and rapid actions around the world in 2023. Will you
contribute?
Yes, I'll Donate
The
renewed attention and fear of nuclear war creates an opening for ICAN
campaigners around the world to put unprecedented pressure on nuclear
armed and nuclear supporting states to change course. To do that, we
need to add more visible public pressure to our already strong
advocacy and political work.
The rapid action fund will enable
ICAN partners to respond quickly and publicly when there is an
opportunity, such as a spike in concern over a nuclear threat,
dual-capable fighter jets being moved around, a government statement
on nuclear weapons, or any other opening to make nuclear weapons the
central issue. The fund will enable activists around the
world to produce and print bold banners and materials, bring in
eye-catching props, hire a photographer or professional support to
help our partners reach local media, and much more.
A dedicated fund will help activists
move quickly when a key moment comes up. Will you help us make those actions a
reality?

I know that in times like this it can be
hard to feel like any individual action will meet the scale of the
threat we face. At ICAN, we see how all those individual advocacy
efforts, protests, speeches, artistic expressions and more add up to a
powerful collective voice against nuclear weapons. Now we need to add
the visual, public pressure now to make decision-makers change. We
really need your help to strengthen this part of our work, and to
support local activists around the world to make their voices heard.
We hope you will be part of it.
Thank you for all that you
do,
Beatrice
