In August, the discovery of the body of an Indigenous man in the Brazilian Amazon reminded us of how genocide continues to take place today. While we know almost nothing about this man – not even his name or that of his people – we do know he was the last of his tribe: all the others had been killed in a series of brutal attacks. With his death, their genocide is now complete.
His experience, though extraordinarily tragic, is far from unique. There are more than 100 uncontacted tribes in Brazil, and many others around the world. Their lands – and their lives – are continually under threat.
At Survival, we fight to prevent such vicious and genocidal attacks on uncontacted tribes, and for their lands to be free of invasions so they can survive and thrive, and live in the way they choose. This Giving Tuesday, we’re asking you to join us.
