Dear John,
Right now, a rising movement of young girls in Uganda are demanding the end of female genital mutilation (FGM) — and we must stand with them.
More than half of young girls have been cut in some areas of Uganda. But through organising, education, and collective action, communities can change that.
The women’s movement in Uganda has achieved so much already — FGM is illegal and actually declining overall. But it’s still rife in rural areas in the east of the country. Now we all need to work shoulder to shoulder with women and girls in those communities so they can end FGM once and for all.
Your donation will support feminists building the collective power to consign FGM to history in Uganda. Funding workshops, training, safe places to meet, financial education, and networks that will challenge the beliefs that lead to FGM.
