Dear friend, As I settle into my new role as Co-Deputy Director of Organizational Strategy at GGJ, I’m reflecting on what it takes to win alternatives to the crises of climate change, capitalism, imperialism, and more. Many fond and moving recollections of relationship-building, solidarity, and democratic practice at GGJ’s October Membership Assembly come to mind.
Being GGJ’s highest decision-making body, the Membership Assembly brings our member organizations together to shape and decide on GGJ’s political direction for the upcoming period. This year, we emerged with an exciting mandate to build a Political Formation
School and develop a shared campaign centering divestment from harm and investment in care.
Will you power our movement and collective action by making a contribution
today?
I remember marching through the streets of Oakland demanding a world beyond bars and borders, surrounded by GGJ members and international allies who brought lessons and fire from their struggles. I broke bread with elders who shaped our movements for decades and heard from younger folks about their visions and desires for this political moment and beyond. Overall, it was a deeply meaningful week of building across our membership, generations, and broader social movements. I hope you’ll check out the recap pamphlet and other materials on our website! |
