Hi John, It’s the ten year anniversary of GivingTuesday—which seems amazing to me. I was trying to think back to a time when organizations couldn’t rely on GivingTuesday, and I’m not sure I can remember a before. A decade ago, the folks at the 92nd Y in NYC came up with the idea behind GivingTuesday—one day in the holiday season to encourage people to really step up and make an impact in their own community . . . the rest, as they say, is history. This year, the many grassroots organizations that help make our communities work will again be relying on all of us to come through. And I hope you will consider giving back to a few that are important to you. If you’re looking for an organization to support, here are five community organizations that Team Hunt and I work with— FreetheBallot.org: A multi-racial grassroots alliance of incarcerated people, family, friends, and allies that supports the communities most impacted by mass incarceration. PlanUSA.org: PlanUSA has been working with young leaders for more than 85 years, and they’re proving the power of what can happen when we listen to girls, and support and implement their ideas. EverybodyEatsPhilly.org: A leader in the fight against hunger and dedicated to increasing food security and building community, EverybodyEatsPhilly is helping Philadelphia fight the hunger crisis right here at home. Kensington Soccer Club: A community-based mission that provides accessible soccer programs to our neighbors. The Women's Centers: A network of healthcare clinics providing compassionate abortion care and reproductive health services, working for reproductive rights and social change. Any of these would be so appreciative to have support from people like you. And I hope you might consider supporting our movement, right here. By donating in support of our exploratory campaign, you can be confident knowing that your donation helps support the progressive work we all care about—from policy advocacy at the state and national level to on-the-ground organizing.
