Happy New Year! It's 2020 and there’s no time to waste.

With only 10 months until Election Day, we’re announcing our Roadmap 2020: Capturing the Most Powerful Points of Leverage to Unwind Republican Power by retaking the Texas, Florida, Arizona, and North Carolina legislatures.

These critical state legislative races continue to be the most under-recognized and under-valued opportunity of the 2020 election cycle. As I explained to The Wall Street Journal, “Democratic resources simply don’t trickle down.” Meanwhile, “Republicans have long understood that the root of national power is in state legislatures.”

As of last June, Republicans were already out-raising Democrats by an average of 9:1 in Texas. We face a massive resource gap in these key states, not to mention the fact that Republicans have already tilted the playing field to their advantage in these states via voter suppression and gerrymandering.

We’re going to need to step it up in 2020 if we want to give Democrats a shot at winning back power in Texas, Florida, Arizona, and North Carolina. Chip in to help us expand our programs as we prepare for the year ahead.

As I told Politico, “There are four states that represent the most powerful points of leverage to fortify our democracy...These states are where Democrats face the greatest risk of being locked out of power nationally for the next 10 years.”

Control of these key chambers will have resounding national implications. Texas, Florida, Arizona, and North Carolina are home to some of the worst cases of the GOP’s gerrymandering and voter suppression. With 90+ congressional seats and a whopping 100 electoral college votes at stake post-census, failure to win power in these states will leave Democrats out of power nationally for the generation to come.

We have a pathway to power in these critical state house chambers. With your support, we can stop the GOP from gerrymandering Congress for the next decade and start the work of restoring our democracy.
