As you know, OWR exists to make Wisconsin of, by and for the people. And this week, our team just got a whole lot stronger.

After an extensive national search, we are excited to announce that Mike McCabe will be joining us as our organization’s first ever Executive Director.

We have a big job ahead of us in 2020 and there’s no one we would rather have at the helm.

Mike ran a spirited underdog campaign for governor in 2018, relying on small donations and the efforts of more than 3,000 volunteers. Before that, he started the grassroots citizen group Blue Jean Nation. For 15 years before that he led the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, an independent watchdog group that exposes corruption, tracks the money in state elections, and works for reforms making people matter more than money in politics.

He’s a former journalist, environmentalist, social justice advocate, Peace Corp volunteer, farmer, educator and leader and together, he’s going to help us take back Wisconsin from the corporations and the billionaires.

As Mike puts it so well: “the kind of politics needed to solve our society’s biggest problems does not exist. It needs to be created.”

This is a fight worth fighting. Let’s welcome Mike to Team OWR and together, let’s create a new kind of politics.
