In Iraq, an RPG blasted through the helicopter I was co-piloting. But when I was bleeding out in my Blackhawk that day, I didn’t care if the troops risking their lives to save me were gay, straight, transgender, Black, white, male or female. All that mattered was that they didn’t leave me behind.
And today, we have that same obligation to make sure we don’t leave members of the LGBTQ+ community behind as Republicans set out to dismantle their rights.
This month, a bipartisan majority in the House voted to pass the Respect for Marriage Act, a bill that protects the right to same-sex and interracial marriage.
The Senate should put this bill on the floor for a vote right away. This is the work we were elected to do, and every person in this country deserves to know that we will protect their right to marry the person they love.

This is an urgent issue. There may not be a case on the docket just yet that targets these rights, but Republican state legislatures across the country are targeting the LGBTQ+ community.
Thank you in advance for adding your name and helping us push for this important legislation.
My very best,
Tammy
