John,
Just a couple of days ago, my dear friend Paul Viviano shared the story about Ella, an adorable little girl and patient at Children's Hospital Los Angeles who at age 2 was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma, a solid cancer of the nervous system.
When it comes to treating sick kids, we don't have a moment to lose. That's why we're asking you, one of Children's Hospital Los Angeles' most committed supporters, to take advantage of your Giving Tuesday match early and make more stories like Ella's possible. Make an early-bird donation of $10 or more to the Children's Fund right now and an anonymous donor will match your gift dollar for dollar, up to $150,000!
Ella's cancer was at stage 4, which meant it had spread to other parts of her body. At Children's Hospital Los Angeles, she was enrolled in a trial that included immunotherapy and chemotherapy, and her condition began to improve after just two treatments.
Thanks to our team of doctors, nurses and amazing staff, Ella is now 4 years old and cancer-free. She is strong, active and healthy after finishing her treatment in July.
Ella's story is a powerful one—and there are so many others just like it, John. Chances are you or someone you know has been helped by this great hospital. Children's Hospital Los Angeles delivers care to 1 out of every 5 children in Los Angeles and impacts the lives of kids in 1 in 3 households—mine included.
Before my son, Calvin, became a Children's Hospital Los Angeles patient, I never knew the magic that went on behind the hospital's doors. And as soon as I shared my son's story publicly, I realized we were far from alone. People reached out to tell me about the great care the hospital gave to their child, from beating cancer to receiving a heart transplant to learning to walk again.
Giving Tuesday kicks off the Season of Giving—and the holidays are a time when no one should have to suffer. So please, help lead the way this Giving Tuesday with a gift that will be MATCHED to help sick and injured children get access to the best possible care at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
Sincerely,
|
