Upcoming PD Opportunities for December:

From 3:30-5:30 p.m. on December 6, 2022, virtually: ?IDEA Discipline: Authority and Limits??

The WDE?s Special Education Programs Division will host? a virtual Professional Development session; ?IDEA Discipline: Authority and Limits? with presenter Lenore Knudtson. This session will explore IDEA related disciplinary topics such as; what constitutes a disciplinary removal, disciplinary change of placement, how to conduct a manifest determination, and more.?

Knudtson?s career has been shaped by diverse professional opportunities. After earning a bachelor?s degree and a master?s degree in education, Ms. Knudtson became a nationally certified school psychologist working with school teams, parents, and children. School psychology ignited a passion for special education and improving the lives of children and young adults with disabilities.

PTSB Credit will be offered. Register here.

From 4-6 p.m. on December 7, 2022, virtually: Singletons

This virtual training will consist of three two-hour sessions from 4-6 p.m. on December 7, 2022; January 11, 2023; and February 22, 2023.

Singletons, teachers who are the only ones at a school who teach a specific course or subject, often ask how they can effectively participate on a collaborative team? just like teachers who teach the same course or subject. Additionally, leaders frequently ask what they should be doing to guide and support these singletons. Participants, both teachers and leaders, will be provided clear direction and a step-by-step process that helps singletons engage in powerful and meaningful collaboration. Participants will receive tools and templates they can immediately utilize.

A .5 PTSB credit will be available for participants who attend all sessions. Register here.

From 10-11 a.m. on December 13, 2022, virtually; Hathaway Scholarship Online Orientation

The WDE?s Hathaway Team will hold online orientations starting at 10 a.m. on the second Tuesday of every month. The orientation is for those new to the program, or for those who want a content refresher. Legislative updates will be included. Sessions will last about 45 minutes.

At the end of each online session, attendees who are still in the meeting will be entered into a drawing for a ?Hathaway Swag Bag.? All district personnel are invited to participate.

Interested personnel should sign up here.
