These 12 Republicans Can Fix Their Mistake on Religious Liberty |
Update: The dozen GOP senators who opted to move the misnamed Respect for Marriage Act forward still have a chance to stop this trainwreck.
- Opponents of the bill, which include major conservative and religious groups, warn that it “puts a giant target on people of faith.”
- The Respect for Marriage Act itself still hasn’t passed, and the Senate still hasn’t broken the filibuster on the underlying bill, which presents another opportunity to scuttle this assault on religious liberty. Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, also has an amendment that would specifically protect religious liberty.
