Stock Monday is an innovative, new day of charitable giving that
focuses on one of the most tax-wise ways to support nonprofits like
the SPLC: donating appreciated stock.
Donating stock or securities offers a number of key benefits:
* When you donate your appreciated assets, you can save on your
taxes by avoiding capital gains tax.
* If you itemize deductions on your tax return, you can also take
a charitable deduction for the entire donation amount.
* You may also receive carryover of the deduction for up to five
additional years if the fair market value of the gift is more
than 30% of your adjusted gross income.
All told, you could see combined tax savings of up to 70% of your gift
when you donate appreciated stocks.
Today, Stock Monday, is the perfect time to donate. For your gift to
be eligible for your 2022 tax return, you must give by Dec. 31!
