Tomorrow is one of the biggest fundraising days of the year: Giving Tuesday. Your inbox will likely be overwhelmed with asks for donations from organizations doing the best work this world has to offer. That’s why we’re reaching out to you as early as possible during this important giving season with an opportunity to make double the impact on saving lives.
Our lifesaving work at Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is more important than ever.
As the world faces catastrophic natural disasters, brutal armed conflict, and record numbers of people who can’t access routine or preventative health care, our teams at MSF of doctors, nurses, logisticians, administrators, and more are stepping up in the face of these crises.
When the fighting escalated in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, Alla had her family at the top of her mind. The roof and windows of her niece’s home were destroyed and Alla’s family gathered to help. By the time a second shelling occurred, they could no longer make it inside. The next thing Alla recalls seeing was her bone sticking out of her leg. She was in need of immediate medical care.
Local surgeons, together with an MSF team, provided assistance to Alla and her family members. Services like those offered by MSF ambulances and the medical referral train were crucial in helping to save the lives of people in Ukraine, like Alla and her family. By evacuating patients out of direct conflict zones, MSF has helped over 2,000 patients in Ukraine in 2022 get urgent medical care. And we will continue to provide help for as long as needed.
