Dear John,
The growing threat to religious liberty is reaching unprecedented levels in our nation. Every day, there are more stories of Americans being unlawfully punished by various government agencies for expressing their religious beliefs in the public square.
Today, the U.S. Senate will be voting on the "Respect for Marriage Act," a bill that would go much further than simply affirming "the status quo" by codifying Obergefell (the U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage). It would also imperil the religious freedom of Christians and those of other faiths by:
- Tacitly vilifying millions of Americans who still believe in natural marriage,
- Threatening faith-based non-profits' tax-exempt status, and
- Subjecting business owners to costly litigation.
FRC is sounding the alarm along with our allies on how this legislation will threaten religious liberty and parental rights. Some members of Congress are trying to paper over those concerns, but make no mistake... if this bill becomes law, it will super-charge already-existing attacks on religious liberty, so we must be prepared.
No matter the outcome, you can count on FRC to stand unwaveringly for biblical truth, and to ensure that no Christian, pastor, or ministry stands alone if or when their religious freedom is threatened.
Tomorrow is #GivingTuesday, a day when your donation can bolster FRC's mission as a Christian public policy organization dedicated to protecting religious freedom for all Americans.
But you don't have to wait until Tuesday. TODAY you can give a tax-deductible gift, and it will have double the impact thanks to a $125,000 Challenge Match provided by generous friends of FRC!
DOUBLE MY GIFT TODAY
By pursuing this bill, the Senate is making a mockery of marriage as it tramples on a foundational right--religious freedom of the individual. Whether by the Court or by the Congress, truth cannot be altered!
Regardless of the actions of Congress, there are millions of Americans who will remain steadfast in their love for their fellow human being, by remaining committed to these truths: that marriage is ordained by God and men and women are created in His image.
In 2015, Justice Samuel Alito warned of the fallout from the Obergefell decision for those like you and me who stand upon these truths: "It will be used to vilify Americans who are unwilling to assent to the new orthodoxy."
Business owners like Donald Vander Boon have experienced how quickly the federal government can threaten and silence religious expression.
After the Obergefell decision, Vander Boon shared literature defending biblical marriage in the breakroom of his family-owned meat packing plant in Hudsonville, Michigan. A USDA inspector took offense to the paper and contacted his supervisor. Suddenly, Vander Boon was informed that if he didn't remove the literature, the USDA would withdraw their inspectors and effectively shut down his facility.
Vander Boon's family business, including 45 employees, was under constant threat of closure. However, after the 2016 election, an executive order by former President Donald Trump that FRC helped craft, protecting religious freedom, temporarily resolved his situation. But his circumstances could change any moment.
Charities, family-owned businesses, and honest, hard-working Americans will face more ramifications for living out their faith if the Senate passes the (Dis)Respect for Marriage Act and President Biden signs it into law.
"I learned that freedom is easily lost and the decision by the Supreme Court about marriage was not just about marriage--it affected many areas of religious freedom," Vander Boon told The Washington Stand. "This new legislation being proposed would codify the abuse of power and infringement on freedom that I experienced."
Will you pray and stand with FRC to protect religious freedom for all Americans?
DOUBLE MY IMPACT FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
If you act now, your gift of $35, $75, $150, or even $500 or more today will be doubled thanks to the #GivingTuesday Challenge Match.
When you give today to support FRC's mission, we will send you a free digital copy of FRC's new chronological Christmas Story booklet that lays out the Scriptures regarding Jesus's birth to bless you and your loved ones this Christmas season.
John, we need your help at this critical hour.
Leftists are working right now in the lame-duck session of Congress to jam through other must-pass legislation that would further exacerbate already existing attacks on life, marriage, and religious liberty.
Now is the time to stand together and take action!
The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...."
Will you partner with FRC to protect biblical values and the constitutional right of religious expression for all Americans?
Whatever amount you can give will make a difference in our shared mission to advance faith, family, and freedom--here in Washington and across the country.
