Giving season is here — and
your donation today can help us get it off to a powerful start.

Disaster can strike at any moment, as the devastating earthquake in Indonesia
reminded us last week. With 20+ years of experience working across Indonesia,
our local response teams are accustomed to deploying quickly in emergencies
like this one. In Indonesia and across the globe, we work swiftly to connect
people with what they need most right now to survive — while also paving a
pathway to help families recover and thrive in the long term.

That’s why we’ve set a Matching Gift Challenge goal to raise $150,000 by
midnight on #GivingTuesday, November 29, to help sustain and strengthen our
efforts in the 40+ countries where we serve.

A group of generous donors has already given $150,000 to our Matching Gift
Challenge Fund to encourage our community of supporters to make a matching
gift. [ [link removed] ]That means your first gift can help us go twice as far to make a real difference in
people’s lives.

Across the globe, people are overcoming challenges and building brighter
futures with support from Mercy Corps.

In Colombia, Dayris found a new livelihood and hope. She fled from Venezuela
when she could no longer provide for her family in the wake of the country’s
economic collapse. With Mercy Corps’ help, she was able to purchase a food cart
business, as well as pay for unexpected medical bills when both she and her
husband were hospitalized.

Dayris says her business is inspired by her brother’s food cart back in
Venezuela. He showed her how to make her popular dishes: salchipapa,
hamburgers, and hot dogs.

"I don’t know how I was able to do it, but I did, I was a warrior. I
surprised myself ... I was able to take care of my kids, the house, pay
rent, the hospital, I did everything."

DAYRIS JACQUELINE ACOSTA SANCHEZ, COLOMBIA

Your gift
today can help give families the resources they need to pursue a brighter
future.
