I want to ask every one of you to do me a favor. I want you to check your voter registration and make sure that you're still registered. Voting is your right. Don't let anyone take it away. Your vote matters more than you think! I saw multiple counties, in the 2016 primary, decided by just a few votes. And mail in ballots are going out in just a few weeks.

I was at an Indivisible Napa meeting this evening, and my friend Lisa Seran told us about an 18 year old, getting ready to vote in her first election, and was removed from the voter role. And this was in California. It DOES happen, so please check.

And remember, if you want to vote for Bernie Sanders, or for me, in the primary election, it is best to register as Democrat, even if it's only for the primary. If you are NPP (No Party Preference) and won't register Democrat for the primary, please remember to request your Democratic ballot from the Registrar of Voters office now. You MUST request a Democratic ballot in advance.

And please do NOT register as American Independent by mistake. The American Independent Party is a far right group, not independent at all. To be independent, you must choose "No Party Preference".

If you live in California, here is a link to check your registration now: [link removed] ([link removed])

As you probably know, our president is trying to start a war with Iran, without Congressional approval. He's assassinated a highly revered military commander, whom Iranians considered a hero for keeping ISIS out of Iran.

Assassinating another country's leaders is officially a war crime. Even if this commander was as bad as the establishment will surely be telling us for the next couple of days, the United States cannot simply assassinate every person in the world who does horrible things. We cannot be the world's police.

Even if our "leaders" were saints, and always made completely justified and unbiased decisions, the next "leaders" may have a completely different idea of justice. That's why it can't ever be up to one individual, or group of individuals, to play God with other countries' political and economic systems. We also don't have the cultural context to make these judgements for every country. We simply cannot go around killing everyone who doesn't like us.

If Iran had done this to one of our leaders, we would be quick to call it terrorism and demand retribution. Why should it be any different for Iran? Iran, incidentally, has been working with Iraq, the United States and other countries to defeat ISIS. But it is more profitable to make war on Iran than not.

Because of Iran's geography, surrounded by high mountains and water, a war probably means bombing population centers. And because Iran's population tends to be concentrated in the big cities, this will likely mean not thousands of deaths, but tens of thousand, maybe hundreds of thousands.

Keep in mind that, contrary to popular opinion, most Iranians are just trying to live happy lives, feed their children, etc. Most Iranians do not support their government. Iranian citizens are not our enemy.

This picture was shared by Ariel Gold, from CodePink, who was in Iran about three months ago. Ariel is a huge Jewish voice for peace, and was able to connect with the Jewish community in Tehran. Most people believe that Jews and Iranians hate each other. That is not necessarily the case. The Israeli and Iranian governments might, but Jews are allowed to live and practice in Iran.

I waited for about 48 hours to see my opponent condemn this assassination. He finally released a very forced sounding statement that said that he opposes any further escalation, but never did condemn the assassination.

Why isn't Mike condemning this attack? Because he supports it. He supports US military interventionism. He supports regime change wars. He voted to sanction Iran, back in 2017, even though they were in full compliance with the nuclear deal. Remember when Trump said they were in violation even though they weren't? Mike supported that. The latest military budget, that had the creation of a space force and had the parts preventing war with Iran and ending our involvement in the war in Yemen removed by the White House? Mike supported that too.

Mike is always the first to tell you that he voted against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. That's because he prefers unofficial wars, like Syria and Libya. They're quieter. And he has voted to fully fund each and every one of them! The truth is that in the first decade of the century, Mike voted NOT to withdraw from Afghanistan and Iraq as often as he voted to withdraw.

He even wrote a bill, in 2007, that strengthened Bush's ability to make war in Iraq. The Chair of the Davis Peace & Justice Center, part of a coalition of anti-war activists that were trying to get Mr. Thompson to stop being apathetic about the wars, wrote this about his bill:

"HR 187 fails to rescind Congressional authorization for the war or to censure the illegal invasion or occupation. Worse, it does little to check the arbitrary actions of a president by allowing innumerable loopholes and phony benchmarks. This bill is not merely weak, it is harmful. It gives the president further power to continue the operation in Iraq and relegates Congress to a deferential role."
