In the wake of the success in driving turnout in the recent midterms and in the 2020 elections, People For is once again investing in our proven get out the vote program, “Defend the Black Vote,” which seeks to increase voter turnout of Black men ages 18-60. The campaign will send one million text messages and will feature radio ads, digital ads, press outreach, social media, and billboards by world-renowned visual artists.

In this guest blog post, Rev. Dr. Susan K. Williams Smith explains the history of policing in the United States and how it’s intrinsically tied to violence against Black communities.
