“One of the primary roots of wealth inequality: the richest Americans get to live by a different set of rules than everyone else.” — Tom Steyer, op-ed in USA Today on October 2018

We need a wealth tax, friend.
For too long, the gains in our economy have been going to the wealthy while American workers have been left out in the rain. CEO compensation has grown 940% since 1978, while wages for the average American worker have only increased by 12%. Tom knows that we cannot claim prosperity as a nation unless we all prosper together. And that’s why he called for a wealth tax — even before Elizabeth Warren did.
Tom’s plan will begin taxing wealth at $32 million, which will generate $1.7 trillion in the first 10 years. Some of that money will be used immediately to provide substantial tax cuts to the people who need them — not the wealthy — and there will be enough left over to help replenish Social Security, repair roads and bridges, and alleviate student loan debt. If you agree with Tom’s wealth tax, add your name to our list.
Together,
Tom 2020
