John,
As part of treaties the U.S. government made with Tribal nations, Congress has a duty to protect Indigenous sacred sites on federal land and to strengthen Native sovereignty.
For too long, the U.S. government has signed off on fossil fuel infrastructure without getting Tribal consent. But Congress can change that, including through new bills that would ensure that Tribal nations can co-manage their cultural sites on public lands.

This Native American Heritage Month, let’s recognize the ongoing fight to protect Native American heritage. I’m grateful for Indigenous activism that makes this world better for all of us.
In solidarity,
Rashida

John,
This Thanksgiving, let’s honor Indigenous people by joining the fight for Indigenous sovereignty.
In violation of federal treaties, Indigenous sacred sites on federal land have been threatened by harmful development projects like pipelines, mining activities, and resource extraction—all without the consent of Tribal communities who have traditional and spiritual connections to the land.
But Congress can correct these injustices and ensure that Native people have a long-overdue seat at the decision-making table when it comes to managing sacred and cultural sites.

I’ve been honored to work alongside Native leaders in the fight for environmental justice, including blocking pipelines and other destructive projects sited near Indigenous communities. Together, we have pushed back against Big Polluters and have called on Congress and presidential administrations to take bold action.

Please add your name to join grassroots Indigenous groups calling on Congress to pass these landmark pieces of legislation: The Advancing Tribal Parity on Public Land Act and the Tribal Cultural Areas Protection Act.
This Thanksgiving, remember that Native Americans are still fighting for what the U.S. government has promised them.
In solidarity,
Rashida
