Dear Friend,
In this first message from us both, we begin with thanks.
Thanks to the wonderful volunteers across Canada who have worked long hours on party committees, in the leadership campaigns, at the Green booths at Pride celebrations, Fall fairs, and community gatherings of all kinds. You are the heart and soul of this party.
Thanks to our departing interim leader, Dr. Amita Kuttner for their selfless service, touring Canada to connect with the party's grassroots.
To those of you who voted for us to become the new leader and future co-leader of the Green Party of Canada, thank you!! To those of you who supported other teams, thank you for sticking with the Green Party as we rebuild!
To all Greens, it is time to pull together.
The last three years have been tough. We have gone from a healthy organization with over a million votes and millions of dollars in the bank, to one that has struggled. Now is the time to vote with your pocketbook (or likely your credit card) and register your renewed support for the Greens with a substantial donation. We know not everyone can afford to donate the maximum. But whatever you can donate, please consider doing so before December 31, 2022 to access tax deductions.
This is an exciting time and we have already turned a corner. We have already reached out to all the other candidates in the leadership race. We are committed to building on the momentum of the race and moving ahead as a team. Many thanks to Anna, Chad, Sarah and Simon for their dedication and commitment to our movement. We are all committed to harnessing the energy and talent members saw in the race.
We now have a new President, former Young Green, Ian Soutar, and a new Executive Director, Kevin Dunbar. And certainly if last, not least, thanks to the amazing MP from Kitchener Centre. Mike Morrice and his team do our party proud every single day.
We met as a Council just last night by zoom. The mood is great - positive and optimistic. And that is so much due to you, your loyalty and support!
Please help us make it clear to one and all - the Green Party of Canada is back! Donations to all parties are made public by Elections Canada.
