This year, we saw Democratic AGs who were elected in narrow races in 2018 win reelection by even bigger margins. We’re thankful for all of our excellent incumbent AGs who won this year, and grateful that our movement has grown in size and strength since 2018.
Here are some of the victories we’d like to highlight this year:
Nevada AG Aaron Ford won reelection in Nevada this year by almost 8% after winning by fewer than 5,000 votes in 2018
Michigan AG Dana Nessel was able to win reelection by more than 9% this year, in a strong showing after winning by less than 3% of the vote in 2018
Wisconsin AG Josh Kaul of Wisconsin won reelection this year by 35,000 votes, more than twice his margin of 17,000 votes in 2018
Colorado AG Phil Weiser won reelection by nearly 9% this year after flipping his seat with a 6% margin in 2018
With 2024 on the horizon, we need to take our knowledge from 2022 – and 2018 – and recognize that putting excellent Democratic candidates in office gives us a leg up in future elections. That type of sustained success is what allows us to continue to achieve progress for generations to come.
