Hi folks,

You've all heard about MJ, the Texas tough, ass-kicking, motorcycle-riding combat veteran fighting for a Senate seat. But as MJ's husband, I wanted to take a minute to share the MJ I know best -- the fiercely protective yet warm, caring mama bear to our boys.

I want to tell you more, but first I have to ask -- will you pitch in to MJ's campaign for U.S. Senate? We're just eight weeks from the Texas Democratic primary, and we have to keep moving full steam ahead.

It's not easy to juggle raising two kids while running for office, especially in a state as big as Texas. MJ loves campaigning, but she'll be the first to tell you that her very favorite moments are those spent with our kids. After all, they're the reason she's in this race. She's dead-set on building a better future for them, and MJ doesn't do anything half-assed.

I know from how she looks out for our kids that she's exactly who you'd want to look out for your own kids -- or any of your loved ones -- in the Senate. We just have to get her there. So, can you pitch in to help her build the campaign that will beat John Cornyn in November?

On a recent morning before the day's campaigning kicked off, MJ and the boys bounced an oversized rainbow slinky down the stairs. Ever the pragmatist, MJ carefully calculated the arc to just the right height, maximizing velocity and the number of flips to create the ultimate awe factor, which our boys spent the next hour trying to replicate as she patiently guided them.

Later, before she went onstage at a campaign stop, MJ zipped by me in a blur, chased by our two tiny toddlers engaged in a high stakes game of tag. Winner gets all the kisses and the loser gets all the tickles. As MJ shared her powerful speech about her military service and her vision for a better future for Texas with the crowd, the boys clung to her legs -- she's still just mom to them!

In moments like those, I'm reminded MJ is one hell of a mother and partner -- and it's days like this one on the trail that convince the Texans she meets that we need her in the Senate to be a hell of a fighter for us. But she needs all of us to step up and help along the way. Will you chip in to help get her there?

Thanks for everything,

Brandon Hegar (MJ's husband)
