Help Us Counter Bera’s Latest Voter Deception!

Over the years, voters in California’s 7th Congressional District (CA-7) have heard more than a few misleading statements from Ami Bera. This is partly why Jeff has been running hard to give this district a straight-shooting, Democratic alternative in the March 3rd primary. But this weekend, Burdick for Congress exposed an attempt by Bera’s campaign website to mislead voters to believe The Sacramento Bee has already endorsed Bera.

AND IT IS ALL FALSE – which underscores just how important it is for us to unite behind Jeff and help him unseat Bera. This starts by helping him make Top 2 in the March 3rd Primary – with ballots being mailed out in just 4 weeks.

Here is the background. If you go to Bera’s home page (or better yet, just go to our news release here which includes a screen shot of Bera’s site), the “Latest News” section touts that Bera has “earned the endorsement of the Sacramento Bee Editorial Board for the California 7th Congressional District’s Primary…” One problem: The Bee has not endorsed in this race yet. (Jeff’s endorsement interview is scheduled this week in fact.)

Another problem, if you follow the links on Bera’s page, you discover this “latest news” is almost two years old. It actually refers to an endorsement from two elections ago. Not that any of this is stated on Bera’s home page. You have dig into his site to realize this bait-and-switch deception. 

THIS IS WHAT JEFF HAS BEEN FIGHTING THIS WHOLE ELECTION. While no other Democrat has stood up to primary Bera in his career, Jeff declared in June he would. In July in Gold River, Jeff stood up to Bera at his town hall meeting to expose the “good doctor’s” deceptions about a major border detention camp vote. And since August, Jeff has been calling Dr. Bera out online, in letters, and in a newspaper ad for Bera’s taking nearly $50,000 in donations from the largest opioids makers and distributors and also voting in 2016 to kneecap DEA enforcement power over the Opioids Industry. 

Jeff is going to keep fighting all the way through the March 3rd primary. And if we help vote him into the Top 2, he will fight Bera another 8 months through to the general election. And Jeff is fighting this fight the RIGHT WAY. Jeff has taken the most principled campaign fundraising pledge in the nation, and he’s the only candidate in the nation to take the Good Campaign Oath to run a campaigns of the highest ethical nature.

But now Jeff needs your help. He needs you to step up and donate to this campaign so we can afford just a little advertising to amplify our message. He needs you to request lawn signs to show your neighbors the local support Jeff already has. And he needs you to volunteer to make calls to other Democratic primary voters so they see how enthusiastic you are for Jeff to give us our voices back in D.C.
