May your holidays be as joyful as mine. 

If there is anything we must remind ourselves, it’s that in the face of constant, soul-sucking oppression, choosing joy is one of the most radical forms of resistance available to us, so we have an obligation to ourselves and each other to choose happiness whenever we can.

Also true is that those who oppress us have deep, deep pockets and underestimate the power of our community. We know better. We know our community provides, all we have to do is ask. So today I ask you, can you help us reach our Giving Tuesday goal?

Information is power and we know better than to trust the oppressors to give us what we need. That is why it is so important to have information captured, broken down, and made accessible to the community by people who have survived the very systems of mass incarceration and deportation that continue to harm us today. 

The policy team at GRL is committed to keeping you informed because that is how we keep each other safe. This upcoming Texas legislative session will be full of bills trying to further criminalize our communities and pay for more cuffs and cages. Rest assured we will be there. (Keep your eye out for our Advocacy Day Save the Date!)
