Trump’s EPA thinks it can hide the truth from the American people, but we’re not going to let them get away with it.
We’ve just filed a complaint with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia for documents related to the “red team/blue team” debate exercise that former Administrator Pruitt had planned in order to cast doubt on scientific consensus about climate change.

Donate to our Summer Match today and your gift to fund lawsuits like this one against the Trump administration will be matched $1-for-$1.

Back in 2017, Administrator Pruitt talked publicly about his plan to set up a debate between a team assigned to refute established climate science and a team to defend it.

We suspected Pruitt would use the farcical debate to undermine the scientific integrity of EPA climate regulations, so we submitted a Freedom of Information Act request for documents related to the planned event.

But two full years later, EPA still hasn’t released information the American people have a right to see.

This isn’t the first time EDF has been forced to go to court because Trump’s EPA flouted their legal obligation under FOIA.
  • In October 2017, we sued after the administration failed to respond to three FOIA requests — including one pertaining to interference with scientific research and communications at EPA.
  • In August 2018, we sued when EPA failed to release documents related to a proposed rule that would bar EPA from using key public health studies when making decisions about vital protections for human health and the environment.
By illegally refusing our FOIA requests for documentation about the actions they are taking, the Trump administration is depriving the public of information that could be used to hold EPA accountable for its reckless decisions.

For a short time, every $1 you give to hold Trump’s EPA accountable to the law will unlock another $1 in matching funds and put us $1 closer to our $500,000 goal — worth $1 million after the match.

Please make your contribution to our Summer Match today and claim your matching gift before the offer expires.

P.S. Since President Trump took office, we've had to hire more legal staff to keep up with all of his administration’s illegal maneuvers. Their greatest hope is to overwhelm us with sheer volume, and deplete our resources so that we’ll stop slowing them down. The best way for you to make sure that doesn’t happen is to start a new monthly gift during our Summer Match. Your first 12 gifts will be matched $1-for-$1, doubling the value of your support for an entire year of drawn-out legal battles through our slow-moving court system.
