Republicans Win The House With A Wake-up Call About Independents

Now that the House has finally been called, Republicans are breathing a
sigh of relief and planning for the new Congress. Republicans had big wins
in many places, and improved their vote among Hispanic voters from 2020.
However, this election has been a wake-up call for Republicans on several
fronts, especially with the performance among independents. As we have said
many times, neither party's base is enough to win a majority. No one who
has been reading Discussion Points should be surprised that independents
were decisive in determining the outcome. The Edison Research exit poll
(not final) shows independents voting for Democrats by 2 points, a result
that indicates Republicans have some significant work to do. Going forward,
